This rare elegant vintage multi-faceted Austrian crystal rhinestone lapel pin is made of a silver plated metal base and was originally owned and worn exclusively by Francis Bavier, who portrayed the loveable "
Aunt Bee
" character on one of America's most beloved TV series of the 20th century,
The Andy Griffith Show
. She also wore it on the spin off
Mayberry R.F.D.
As you can see in our photos here, the pin is round and measures 1-1/8" wide and is literally encrusted with its original prong set rhinestones in a variety of shapes and sizes. The largest stone sits in the center and would be nearly 3 carats if a real diamond. There are 3 Marquis cut stones framing the largest stone and 2 rows of smaller round stones finishing the Art Deco design. The back retains its original well working pin clasp. The prong set rhinestones still shimmer and sparkle brilliantly today in bright lights, just as they did when it was used as a wardrobe prop on the two series.
Several years before her death in 1989, Francis donated many pieces of her costume jewelry props to a Los Angeles Children's hospital charity event. There the pieces were auctioned off and our client bought this and other pieces from Ms. Bavier's estate for her prestigious TV Show and Movie Prop collection, which includes pieces owned by some of the most prominant movie and TV stars and the props they kept from their films or TV shows.
Our cient and pieces from her collection, have appeared on TV shows, and have been loaned to several Hollywood themed museums, including one owned by Debbie Reynolds, a
nd now it can be part of your collection, too.
Our professional appraiser suggests its country of origin from The United States possibly made by Weiss (who didn't always mark their early pieces) its vintage to the 1930s and current value 0.00 complete with our "Free Bonus" certificate of authenticity which will include the name, city and state of the winner plus the amount they've paid which becomes its current value.
